Pauline Gabert is a German artist who lives and works in Berlin.
In her work she explores the relationship of art to "itself", within a context of realization as an inevitable consequence. Gabert addresses questions that perceives art with its origins in cultic phenomena and in doing so she explores existential issues that sees art as „outgrowth“ of an enlightenment process to be acknowledged. Enhancing to a new spiritual perspective, she rethinks artistic possibilities by combing them with ancient traditions.
This process of existential clarification generates a shift in values that leads to a reorientation and reassessment that culture seeks to cultivate, and opens up opportunities to create new performative formats.
Understanding transcendence as the being for us as existence, Pauline thereby refers to Kierkegaard or Jaspers who reflect upon truth as crucifixion of the mind as a „leap into faith“
As a former student of Manfred Pernice, her work moves between objects, installations, performative works and film.
